Wheel Loader RoadHogs
Our family of wheel loader RoadHogs offers high production at a substantially lower cost than a traditional dedicated milling machine in many applications. These machines are widely used around the U.S. and abroad for small to medium sized milling projects, which include milling city streets prior to overlay, in-place recycling of parking lots and more.
Utility and pipe contractors also use these self-contained milling machines to open trenches prior to repairing or replacing gas, water or sewer lines at a higher production rate and lower cost per foot versus traditional walk behind saws. Another advantage of using a RoadHog in this application is that each side of the trench is cut simultaneously while the pavement is recycled on site thus eliminating the need to load and truck the material to be recycled elsewhere. The savings in labor and fuel along with the material, which can be used immediately for backfill, will immediately impact job profits.
Municipal customers include cities, townships, counties and state agencies engaged in milling, utility work, recycling, reclamation and stabilization of roads in their area. An optional adjustable waste gate can be added to new and existing RoadHogs to pulverize asphalt chunks to a gradeable size. Many of the projects outsourced to milling and stabilizing contractors can now be performed with the RoadHog, saving thousands in tax dollars.
Wheel loader RoadHogs are offered in cutting widths from 48 inches up to 96 inches. Power is provided by Cat turbocharged, T4F diesel engines, in 148 ( C4.4 ) 225 and 275 ( C7.1 ) horsepower ratings. Power is transferred to the drum via a belt drive and a Fairfield planetary reduction gearbox, which efficiently provides maximum torque under load. A wireless handheld remote controller (standard equipment) enables the loader operator or ground man to control the drum depth, slope and lateral position within the path of cut providing maximum machine control from any vantage point.
All wheel loader RoadHogs utilize a ground-engaging frame, which provides accurate depth of cut control; otherwise known as controlled depth milling. In simple terms, the frame is in contact with the ground during the cutting operation and the drum moves up and down within this frame giving the operator the ability to maintain a depth of cut that is typically +/- 3/16-inch. Total depth of cut can range from 0 to 12-inches.
Cross slope, or tilt, is another important feature of the RoadHog. Slope and drainage characteristics may be re-established on existing or new pavements and base by hydraulically adjusting the angle of the drum +/- 5 degrees.
